FRP round tubes fall under the primary category of pultruded FRP profiles. They are predominantly utilized in the assembly of FRP guardrails. In addition to round tubes, the range of pultruded FRP profiles encompasses various other shapes and specifications, including square tubes, channel beams, angle bars, flat strips, rectangular tubes, I-beams, and round rods. Pultruded FRP profiles possess the following key characteristics:
1. Lightweight:** The specific gravity of FRP material is 1.9—merely one-quarter that of cast iron—making it easy to transport and install.
2. Corrosion Resistance:** FRP material is resistant to moisture and does not rust; it is highly adaptable to humid working environments with temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C.
3. High Strength:** The pultruded I-beams and connecting rods used in the support framework exhibit a longitudinal tensile and flexural strength of approximately 500 MPa, with a flexural modulus of elasticity of about 30 GPa. These properties fully satisfy the structural support requirements for the packing media within large-scale cooling towers.
4. Excellent Design Flexibility:** Different I-beam profiles can be selected to meet varying support requirements. The grid spacing can be adjusted arbitrarily, and the overall dimensions can be assembled and cut on-site to suit actual conditions.

The fundamental constituents of pultruded FRP profiles are resin and glass fibers (including woven fabrics, mats, etc.). These profiles are composite materials formed by utilizing fibers—such as glass fibers, carbon fibers, organic fibers, and other metallic or non-metallic fibers—as the reinforcing agents; resins (primarily epoxy, polyester, or phenolic resins) as the binding agents; and various auxiliary materials (including mold release agents, curing agents, catalysts, mold sealants, UV stabilizers, mold cleaning agents, gel coats, etc.) as supplements. Consequently, they possess a comprehensive array of superior properties, including high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high structural strength, low specific gravity, low moisture absorption, minimal elongation, and excellent electrical insulation.
